Acklam Steelworks 1-3 TIBSAcklam Steelworks 1-3 TIBSAcklam Steelworks V TIBS

TIBS Recorded their 5th win of the season with an excellent performance against Acklam Steelworks. The game was played in a difficult swirling wind but both teams coped in getting the ball down and playing some good football. TIBS broke the deadlock when Chris Metcalfe found time and space on the right to pick out Simon Wardle 18 yards from goal, who had his first attempt blocked but made no mistake in smashing the ball home to the keepers right. TIBS got into their stride now and with Dave Humphreys and Phil Walker pulling the strings in midfield, they soon made it two. Metcalfe was involved again finding Gareth Poole, who caused problems with his trickery all day, strode towards the edge of the box before clinically dispatching a low drive in the bottom corner. The Steelies kept plugging away though and were unlucky with one or two attempts at goal from dangerous crosses, but where kept at bay from keeper Michael Norman. TIBS made it three when Captain Phil Walker burst into the box to convert a low cross, beating the keeper and sending the ball high into the roof of the net. The away team then had a chance to make it 4-0 when a penalty was awarded for pushing in the box. A great low save from the keeper denied this oppurtunity. It was Acklam Steelworks who had the last word when in the final minute a free kick was headed into the net from 8 yards.

Libertys Match ReportLibertys Match ReportTIBS V Libertys In Town

TIBS went into the game knowing that for the first time in a whiile they had the chance to move up the table with a victory over Libertys. Infact it was Libertys who drew first blood when a shot was dispatched with less than 10minutes on the clock. This game was always going to be won or lost in Midfield and both teams competed very well in that department leaving few chances, until Chris Metcalfe collected the ball on the edge of the box and unleashed an unstoppable shot into the Keepers Top Right hand corner. TIBS back on level terms. Pressure grew on the away side and good work from Phil Walker enabled him to put the ball into a dangerous area causing total confusion in the Libertys defence. The defender tried in vein to keep the ball out but an own goal was the final outcome. For the second week in a row TIBS switched off with the clock running down and conceded an equaliser with virtually the last kick of the half. Half time TIBS 2-2 Libertys.

TIBS got their noses back in front in the second period when Andy Harris produced a mazy run down the Right and picked out an unmarked Chris Metcalfe to notch his 2nd of the game and 12th of the season. Holding onto leads is not TIBS's strongpoint this season and they proved their own worst enemy again as a ball was not cleared properly and Libertys notched their second equaliser of the game.

Final score TIBS 3-3 Libertys

Match ReportTIBS 2-0 Jennings FCThe first round of the Dave Bodley Cup paired Premier League TIBS against a 2nd Division Jennings FC side struggling to get goin in the league campaign so far. In a scrappy first half both teams were guilty of missing guilt edge chances that could have seen either team go into the break ahead. Half time 0-0

TIBS manager Tony stobbs changed the tactics at half time and TIBS responded much more positive with 2 goals in 10 minutes. The first was a great individual goal from Chris METCALFE who's mazy run took him into the box with the simplest of finishes into the bottom corner. TIBS then doubled their lead when a corner was headed onto the bar and back to the right boot of METCALFE again who volleyed in from 10 yards. This was Metcalfes 5th goal of the season. Credit to Danny Stobbs on the right whos tireless running caused probles for Jennings all day.

Middlebeck Social ReportMatch ReportTIBS 1-5 MIDDLEBECK

TIBS went in at half time 1-0 up with an excellently worked Chris Metcalfe goal. They lead up until the 60th minute until Middlebeck turned on the style and ran out comfortable 5-1 winners. Middlebeck now clear at top of league.

Halfpenny Match ReportTIBS 2-3 Halfpenny Two teams promoted from the Teesborough 1st Division met today at acklam sports centre with TIBS entertaining The Halfpenny. Both teams started bright on the back of good results in recent weeks. Both teams had early chacnces but it was TIBS who would create the first meaningful effort. Some good skill from Mark Crutchley left the full back for dead on the corner of the box and crutchley unleashed a great ball across the face of the goal for Dave Humphries to slide in, only for the effort to have been ruled out for offside. The Halfpenny pushed forward and grabbed a goal before half time to go in 1-0 up. Just after half time, some great football in midfield was turned into a chance for Halfpenny to make it 2-0 which was accepted by a low finish to the keepers left and right into the corner. Credit to TIBS as they didn't roll over. Led by captain Phil Walker this only spurred the lads on. Minutes after Halfpenny scored, a scramble in the box fell to Walker who poked the ball home. With TIBS on top now a cross was swung over from the left and Walker rose above the Halfpenny defence to level the scores at 2-2. With 10 minutes remaining a ball from the right was swung into the Halfpenny box, the defender miscued his clearence onto his own bar with the ball eventually being cleared to safety. The game was very open the last 10 minutes and it was Halfpenny who grabbed the all important 3rd goal. Good work down the right wing paved the way for a dangerous ball into the TIBS box and the low cross was converted into the net.

Final Score TIBS 2-3 The Halfpenny

Morfields 1-4 TIBSMorfields 1-4 TIBSMORFIELDS v TIBS

Considering there was a late change to the venue for this fixture, it didn't seem to bother either team as the game started at a very high tempo. TIBS right winger Andy Harris was delivering qualiity into the box but chances were not been put away. The deadlock was broken midway through the first half when a long ball was latched onto by Striker CHRIS METCALFE, who rounded the onrushing goal keeper and slotted home from 18 yards into an unguarded net. Morfields caused 1 or 2 problems for TIBS after this but were getting frustrated by TIBS offside trap. They clawed themselves level when fine work from a Morfields forward got himself into the box and slotted home a neat diagonal finish low to the keepers left hand corner. The teams went into the break all square at 1-1. Early into the second half the referee punished the Morfields keeper for holding onto the ball for more than 6 seconds. BEN HANCOCK punished Morfields further when the resulting free kick was bent beautifully around the wall and into the bottom left hand corner. TIBS were in full stride now and got a quickfire third when full back DANNY STOBBS good footwork in the box gave him the half a yard he needed to finish low into the bottom corner. With the score at 3-1 Morfields had to push forward and changed to a 4-3-3 formation. The flooded the box with crosses but was well dealt with by stand in goalkeeper Mark Taylor and centre backs Chris Garland and Dave Carter. With time running out a long kick from Taylor allowed SIMON WARDLE to race clear let the ball bounce once and with a well timed lob made the final score Morfields 1 - 4 TIBS.

TIBS Seniors now sitting pretty 5th in the Premier league.

Acklam Steelworks ReportTIBS 4-1 Acklam SteelworksOur first "home" game of the season at Acklam sports centre produced a great battling display from TIBS against a very determined and physical Acklam Steelworks. This was always going to be a tough test against the Dave Bodley cup holders. TIBS started brightly when Mark Crutchley went close with a neat lob just going over the bar, Crutchley receiving a boot to the face in the incident. With a swirling wind circling around the playing surface it was up to both teams to settle down and get into their passing games quickly. The deadlock was broken when a Mark Taylor free kick, 60 yards from goal, evaded everyone, includng the keeper to make the scoreline 1-0 in TIBS favour.

Half Time 1-0

In the second half TIBS carried on where they left off passing the ball about well, but were becoming increasingly frustrated by the way the Steelworks were getting away with some terrible fouls with no cards been produced from the official. 15 minutes into the half, substitute Simon Wardle found time on the edge of the box to pick his spot and smash home a shot to the keepers right hand side. 2-0 TIBS. With the steelworks defence at sixes and sevens, a quick third followed. Chris Metcalfe added his name to the score sheet when he turned and headed towards goal. As with the second goal he found a gap to the keepers right to hit an unstoppable low drive from 18 yards out. 3-0 TIBS. Steelworks gritty performance created a goal from nothing when a teasing ball was whipped in from the right to leave the forward with a simple header from no more than 6 yards, into the roof of the net. 3-1. Ben Hancock then created space on the edge of the box to complete the scoring with yet another low drive beating the keeper to his right hand side. Special mention to Andy Harris who had a sparkling full debut on the right wing. Good solid displays also from full backs Liam Coward and Danny Stobbs.

Poole Saves dayPoole saves dayOn the hottest day the teesborough league is likley to host this season, the 2 newly promoted sides Eston and Normanby Dynamo and TIBS met at Tees dock park looking for their first points of the season. After TIBS lost out on the 1st division title last term to E & N by 1 point this always promised to be an exciting and passionate meeting between the two and the fans were not to be dissapointed. The game started at a fast and furious pace with many strong challenges being made by both sides. TIBS controlled the first 25 minutes of the game without creating many clear cut chances but then on 30 minutes Gareth Poole got the ball on the right and cut into the box leaving the defender in his wake to cut the ball back to awaiting Simon Wardle who's goal bound effort was stopped on the line by the use of an arm by a E & N defender, leaving an easy decision for the official to point to the spot. With normal penalty taker David Carter unable to play due to an injury, the ball was given to last years top scorer Mark Crutchley but unfortunatley he dragged his spot kick wide and this seemed to wake up E & N. E & N started to get more and more into the game and they then went on to break the deadlock on 40 minutes when they worked the ball out to the right and whipped a dangerous ball into the box which was converted at the backpost. Their was nothing TIBS keeper Michael Norman could do about it. 1-0. With half time approaching TIBS created an opening with Mark Crutchley beating the offside trap and finding himself through on goal but his nicley timed lob was just inches over. HALF TIME

Tony Stobbs didnt see the need for any changes and sent the same 11 back out. The first 15 minutes of the half were very scrappy with few chances being made, so Tony Stobbs elected to bring on newboy Andy Harris for Akbal Singh and this seemed to give TIBS that extra spark they needed and they then started to pile the pressure on E & N creating chance after chance with midfield duo Phil Walker and David Humphries influencing the game more and more. Then with 10 minutes remaing a long ball from Mark Taylor was pounced on first by front man Gareth Poole who found himself in time and space to pick his spot and smash home the equaliser which was fully deserved. TIBS then decided not to hold back and go for all 3 points. Then with the 90 minutes up and the game looking certain to finish all level TIBS produced their best move of the game involving a number of players which eventually saw Andy Harris break down the right after a great ball from Mark Taylor and he hit a wicked cross/shot and Gareth Poole fought off his marker to slide the ball home at the back post to claim all 3 points. It was a great performance from the lads with many fine individual performances being put in, with goalkeeper Michael Norman and full back Phil Taylor playing excellent.

Next Game at home to Acklam Steelworks on sunday
