Acklam Cup Winners | Acklam Cup Winners | TIBS Under 8’s continued their impressive record in tournament football by winning the Acklam Cup yesterday at Sandy Flatts. Winning their third trophy to compliment previous successes; 2005/06 league champions and Stockton Cup Winners 05
Drawn in a tricky six team group consisting of Whinney Banks, Cleveland Juniors, Kader, DarlingtonYouth and Beechwood Youth they managed to inflict defeat upon Whinney Banks(2-0) Darlington(5-0) and Beechwood (1-0) drawing with Kader(1-1) and losing narrowly to Cleveland(1-2)
Pick of the goals from the group stage was a Jacob Watling masterclass after being put through by James Cox he beat two Whinney Banks defenders from the half way line to finish mercilessly with his left foot to secure a 2-0 victory. Furthermore Darren Butler scored a hat-trick from central midfield against Darlington Youth. James Cox also scored a brilliant solo goal beating four Beechwood defenders to blast home in a crucial 1-0 win.
The first two teams from the group stage saw Whinney Banks and TIBS progressing to semi-final ties against Newton Aycliffe and Darlington Spraire. In the first semi-final TIBS beat Darlington Spraire 3-1 after coming back from a goal down to score three of their own in an amazing show of grit and determination. Again it was Watling who showed flashes of genius with two goals; one of which was a left foot curler from a free kick into the top corner of the Spraire net. The effervescent Tom Yendall also contributed with the decisive second goal flicking in with his head from a corner. Spraire tried valiantly to get back into the game but failed to get past ‘Captain Fantastic’ Dillon Wilson in defence. Their opponents in the final were Newton Aycliffe who beat Whinney Banks 2-1.
The final was tense and the deciding goal was scored by Harry Dawson who cracked home a loose ball from an Oliver Wilson corner kick midway through the second half. Newton Aycliffe had one chance in the final minute to draw level but Tom Dawson blocked bravely from close range.
The final whistle signalled more silverware for the boys with Dillon Wilson lifting the trophy on behalf of his team and elated manager, Simon.
A truly magnificent ‘team’ performance yet again by the boys after last weeks quarter-final travesty at the hands of Nunthorpe in the NASA Tournament. Well done ‘team’ you are a credit to the club and your proud parents.
| | | 5.2.06 CHAMPIONS!! | TIBS 5 Beechwood Youth 0 | The Tiddlers clinched the U8 TJFA League Championship emphatically defeating visitors Beechwood Youth by five goals to nil on their home ground this morning.
The boys put on a display which defied their years and credit must go to the dedicated management and coaching staff in recognition of this; Simon Wilson, Mike Smith, Steve Watling and Rob Dawson - take a bow!
The first goal came courtesy of whom else but James Cox, his eleventh of the season, after a Herculean throw by Jacob Watling into the Beechwood box. The second goal arrived after further TIBS pressure enabled Jacob Watling to crack the ball home just before the half-time.
Half-time 2-0
The second half was again dominated by TIBS and Watling emphasised this dominance with his second goal of the game within five minutes of the restart. Further attempts at increasing the lead saw a right foot screamer from Dillon Wilson grazing the Beechwood upright. TIBS fourth and Watling’s hat-trick came shortly after. The move began with a mighty kick up field by Tom Dawson, his kick was controlled by Tom Smith who presented Jacob with an opportunity to fire TIBS second hat-trick of the season and he duly obliged with his proficient left foot.
Substitutions were made after this with Horrocks, Burns and Yendall replacing Cox, Butler and Smith. TIBS fifth goal was slotted home by Sam Horrocks finishing majestically after some neat build up play by Tom Yendall and Ryan Burns.
The final whistle sparked scenes of jubilation and celebration from the team and its supporters in recognition of their second piece of silverware within their first competitive season together as a group. A notable achievement indeed and something for all involved to be proud of. Well done everybody!!

| | | 22nd January 2006 | New Marske SC 1 TIBS 6 | Another dominant display by the TIBS tiddlers edged them further towards the TJFA league title. It didn’t take long for the boys to get into their stride and the opening goal came courtesy of some exquisite link up play between their Captain Dillon Wilson, Tom Smith and Oliver Wilson, the latter finishing the move with a crisp volley. The second goal arrived in a similar fashion to the first; again the ball broke outside the New Marske box to Dillon who cleverly guided the ball to Tom Smith on the left wing, he in turn crossed into the path of Oliver Wilson who duly converted his second goal of the game.
Half-time 0-2
The second half adopted a similar pattern to the first with TIBS on top from the whistle. It was only a matter of time before the third TIBS goal was registered and it came from ‘The Hitman’, James Cox, with his ninth goal of the season. The fourth goal was a special moment for Oliver Wilson who scored the first ‘hat-trick’ for his team after nonchalantly tucking the ball away after yet more silky approach play by the TIBS boys. The inevitable fifth came courtesy of Coxy, his tenth of the season, again demonstrating a master class in the art of finishing after an astute pass from Jacob Watling. At 5- 0 Sam Horrocks, Ryan Burns and Tom Yendall replaced Oliver, Tom Smith and Coxy. They instantly blended into the tempo previously set by the starting seven and within minutes of their engagement Darren Butler set off on a one man crusade in search of his first goal of the season. His mission was accomplished when he found the net, after beating two Marske defenders, with a blistering right foot blast leaving the Marske keeper rooted. 6-0 TIBS.
The Marske goal came from a counter attack as TIBS went in search of a seventh goal. Tom Dawson saved the initial effort valiantly, but couldn’t prevent James Davison scoring New Marske’s consolation goal in the final minutes of the game.
Final Score - New Marske 1 TIBS 6
Victory in their final game of the season against Beechwood Youth will seal the title. Fixture detail TBA.

| | | 15th January 2006 | Coulby Newham 2 TIBS 3 | A quite remarkable start to this game saw the Tiddlers two down after only five minutes. The Coulby Newham boys appeared to be the hungrier side against a seemingly hesitant and nervous TIBS in the opening minutes. The first goal came from Gary Powell who took advantage of some indecisive defending to put Coulby one up inside the first minute. The second came from a quick break down the Coulby left when Ben Collaghan finished well from the edge of the box. TIBS responded brightly with two crucial goals of their own before the half time break. First it was Tom Smith, who found space on the edge of the Coulby box, firing home for his sixth goal of the season after some dogged play in the midfield area by Darren Butler. Then it was another right foot rocket from James Cox, his eighth of the season, after a neat pass from Oliver Wilson to draw TIBS level.
Half-time 2-2
One substitution was made by TIBS during the break with Tom Yendall replacing Jacob Watling. The second half was finely balanced and the result could have gone either way, in fairness. Both teams had speculative efforts at goal only to be thwarted by the respective keepers. The defining moment arrived when a TIBS corner was curled into the Coulby box by James Cox and Tom Yendall ghosted in to fire a stunning left foot volley past the helpless Coulby keeper – 3-2 TIBS.
The final five minutes were quite tense but the TIBS boys held on, displaying tremendous spirit, for another three vital points in their quest for their second piece of silverware of the season. Well played both teams, gripping stuff.
Next match New Marske away next Sunday.

| | | 8th January 2006 | Stokesley FC 0 TIBS 5 | The boys were back in action after the long festive break, but showed no signs of rustiness with an all round outstanding performance against the Stokesley lads.
The pitch was fairly heavy, but other than that playing conditions were perfect. The two captains shook hands and within seconds the match was underway. Instantly the TIBS boys slipped into gear with some precision passing which lit up a grey morning as they attempted to break the Stokesley rearguard with an early goal. It wasn’t long before their excellent approach play payed dividends by virtue of some fine wing play by James Cox, on the right, who found Jacob Watling with a fizzer of a cross which was dispatched with clinical aplomb – 1-0 TIBS. The arrival of the second goal was only a matter of time and it came from Tom Smith who toe-poked the ball home after some fine approach play by Oliver Wilson.
Half Time – Stokesley FC 0 TIBS 2
The second half saw TIBS pick up the same tempo they set during the first period, but before they found the net again Tom Dawson made some superb saves to protect their lead. The third goal came after another silky passing move which cut the Stokesley defence to ribbons; the ball was passed intricately in defence by Darren Butler and Dillon Wilson via the midfield to Cox, in attack, who launched an unstoppable shot, from outside the box, past the Stokesley keeper. 3-0 TIBS. The third goal triggered substitutions with Burns, Horrocks and Yendall replacing Watling, Cox and Smith. The change inspired the Tiddlers further and more efficient link up play between Tom Yendall and Ryan Burns provided Sam Horrocks with a simple tap-in to stretch the TIBS advantage to four. There was still time for a fifth and it came after some scintilating wing play by Yendall who crossed the ball into the path of Oliver Wilson who calmly slotted home from close range.
Full Time – Stokesley FC 0 TIBS 5
This magnificent victory meant TIBS leapfrogged North Ormesby into pole position at the top of the league. Three more victories will secure the league title.

| | | 11th December 2005 | Richmond Town 1 TIBS 1 | Perfect playing conditions awaited both sides for this tricky encounter for the Tiddlers against a competent Richmond side.
TIBS started brightly with some good approach play failing to pay early dividends. At the other end the Richmond boys tried in vain to create anything of note. That was until midway through the first half when a quick throw-in resulted in a hopeful punt at goal ending up nestling in the back of the TIBS net. TIBS immediately struck back when from a Cox corner Smith volleyed home emphatically. Half-time 1-1
The second half saw TIBS dominating the majority of play only to be thwarted by another outstanding display by the Richmond keeper. First he blocked a Cox thunderbolt, and then he kept out a Watling effort and with only seconds remaining he somehow cleared an Oliver Wilson blast, struck on the volley, from the corner of the penalty area. Richmond tried to break on the counter attack but their forwards were held in check by Dillon Wilson and MOM Darren Butler.
Good game played in the right spirit and enjoyed by all of the boys and parents. Well done everybody!

| | | 20th November 2005 | TIBS 1 Richmond Town 1 | Another tense affair for the Tiddlers on a bright, crisp morning on home soil. Both sides settled well on a sticky pitch and TIBS first effort on goal saw a Cox effort saved well by the Richmond keeper.
The first goal of the game came against the run of play. A mis-directed pass from the TIBS defence presented the Richmond winger with an opportunity to break down their left side and cross the ball into the TIBS box. Dawson parried the cross into the path of a Richmond attacker who duly poked the ball into the back of the TIBS net.
TIBS searched for an equaliser and their search was rewarded in the dying embers of the first half when Watling played a through ball to Smith who controlled well and finished clinically for a deserved equaliser.
Half-time 1-1
The second half saw TIBS dominate their visitors, only to be foiled by an outstanding performance by the Richmond keeper. With minutes remaining a rare break presented Richmond with a free kick on the edge of the TIBS box. The kick was deflected by the wall and drifted past the TIBS upright. The resultant goal kick provided Yendall with what proved to be the last chance of the game, but his delicate stab drifted agonisingly wide.
Man of match, as voted by Richmond Town Management – Dillon Wilson.
Squad; Tom Dawson, Dillon Wilson(C), Darren Butler, Tom Yendall, James Cox, Oliver Wilson, Tom Smith, Jacob Watling, Jack Pearce, Sam Horrocks, Thomas Bullock and Ryan Burns
| | | 13th November 2005 | North Ormesby 1 TIBS 0 | TIBS 100% league record was on the line in what proved to be a testing encounter at the Old Vic. This game was played in a competitive spirit by both teams and it was Doggy who settled earliest, enjoying more possession than the TIBS boys and having the clearer cut opportunities to open the scoring. TIBS chances were limited due to some good defensive work by the home side and the half time whistle blew with the teams locked at nil apiece.
The second half could have gone either way, as the game was mainly played in the centre of the pitch, but the defining moment arrived when an attacking Doggy player evaded two tackles on the edge of the TIBS box and finished well to earn his side all three points. TIBS tried desperately to salvage a point, but failed to break down the Doggy defence. The victory leapfrogged North Ormesby above TIBS to first position, but all is not lost as TIBS are a only one point behind and have a game in hand over the Doggy boys.
Next match Richmond Town at home on Sunday 20th November.
Squad; Tom Dawson, Dillon Wilson(C), Darren Butler, Tom Yendall, James Cox, Oliver Wilson, Tom Smith, Jacob Watling, Jack Pearce, Sam Horrocks, Thomas Bullock and Ryan Burns
| | | 30th October 2005 | TIBS 4 New Marske SC 0 | Blustery conditions awaited both sides for this important league game and it was seconds before an early TIBS attack brought a fine save from the Marske keeper. TIBS kept up the pressure and eventually cracked the Marske rearguard with a well taken goal by Oliver Wilson, who calmly slotted home from close range.
A now rampant TIBS further enhanced their lead with two goals from James ‘hitman’ Cox. The first coming from a far post punt with his left foot after good approach play by Smith and Watling, the second coming with a vicious cross shot which left the Marske keeper helpless, such was the power of the shot. This goal took Coxy’s goal tally for the season to six.
Half-time – TIBS 3 New Marske 0
The second half, again, was played within the Marske half, such was TIBS dominance. The Marske defence held firm for the majority of the half with some dogged defending in light of some superb attacking play by the home side. This proved to be TIBS best display of the season in tricky conditions and they capped off an excellent team performance with a candidate for ‘goal of the season’ scored by their captain Dillon Wilson. When the ball was partially cleared by the Marske defence it broke to Dillon who in turn mercilessly unleashed an unstoppable right foot scorcher into the top corner of the Marske net from outside of the box. The goal was celebrated by Dillon with a few mimic puffs on a cigar as his team mates congratulated him on what was a special strike.
The final whistle soon followed and their position at the top of the league, with their 100% record intact, was further validated with another outstanding team performance.
Squad; Tom Dawson, Dillon Wilson(C), Darren Butler, Tom Yendall, James Cox, Oliver Wilson, Tom Smith, Jacob Watling, Jack Pearce, Sam Horrocks, Thomas Bullock and Ryan Burns.
| | | 23rd October 2005 | Beechwood Youth 1
TIBS 2 | The first away fixture for the boys proved to be a tricky encounter on a rain drenched pitch at Beechwood.
The first half saw early pressure from TIBS with top scorer Cox testing the Beechwood keeper on a couple of occasions. At the other end TIBS keeper Dawson had little to do until Beachwood’s first attack of the game earned them a corner and from it they scrambled home the opening goal sending the home fans wild. The remainder of the first half saw a lacklustre TIBS trying to force their way back into the game but to no avail.
Half-time – Beechwood 1 TIBS 0
The second half saw a hungrier TIBS side and from the kick off the boys were snapping into every tackle. It wasn’t long before the Beechwood resilience was ended and it was Oliver Wilson who side-footed a Watling cross from a short corner into the Beechwood net.
With TIBS now pressing for the winner Tom Yendall replaced James Cox with 5 minutes remaining. Still the game could have gone either way but for stout defensive work by Dillon Wilson and Darren Butler keeping things tight at the back.
With time running out a mazy run by Yendall almost created a winning goal, but the keeper produced an excellent save from Watling.
In the final minute of this tense game Yendall again created what proved to be the final chance of the game with a neat pass to Tom Smith inside the Beechwood box. Smith’s finish was superb hitting the top right hand corner of the net with his left foot. After the restart the referee blew his whistle to end this excellent match.

| | | 9th October 2005 | TIBS 3 Stokesley FC 1 | The ‘Tiddlers’ were back in action after a two week break in a top versus bottom clash on home soil. The two captains shook hands and tossed a coin then the referees whistle marked the start of the game.
An early break by Stokesley down their left side was snuffed out by messers Butler and Wilson at the heart of the TIBS defence. After the early flourish by Stokesley TIBS gained the initiative in the midfield with some tigerish play by Oliver Wilson and Jacob Watling; both winning plenty of possession and creating numerous chances for Coxy and Tom Smith up front.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 5th minute when James Cox notched his fourth goal of the season after good link up play with the midfield. It would have been more by half time but for some heroics in the Stokesley goal by Dale.
At half time Smith was replaced by Tom Yendall, this change proved key in the outcome of this game.
Midway through the second half Stokesley broke and pinched an equaliser after a desperate scramble on the edge of the TIBS box. This seemed to stun the Tiddlers and further Stokesley pressure may have handed them a penalty on another day. However the boys dug deep and it was Tom Yendall who broke down the left wing and clipped the ball neatly past the Stokesley keeper. This goal gave TIBS more confidence and the decisive goal came a couple of minutes from time when Yendall took his second goal of the game with another quality left foot finish.
The result maintained TIBS 100% league record and left them sitting three points clear at the top of the league. Keep it going lads!!

| | | 18th September 2005 | TIBS 4 Coulby Newham 0 | Another fine victory by the boys in only their second ever league game. Coulby offered spirited resistance but once James Cox and Jacob Watling had put the hosts two up inside ten minutes there was only going to be one winner. Further pressure in the second half resulted in another goal for Coxy and another for Jacob.

| | | 11th September 2005 | TIBS 3 North Ormesby 1 | In their first ever league match in the TJFA the boys were buoyant after last weeks events and it was back to the bread and butter of the league. Both sides started brightly and it was James Cox who opened the scoring in the first half coolly finishing when well placed. The doggy boys replied instantly scoring a wonder goal directly from kick off. TIBS fought back and it was Tom Smith who forced the boys back into the lead with a well taken goal. TIBS applied further pressure and it was a goal from Jacob Watling which secured the points and top position in the league.

| TIBS U8’s Stockton Town Tournament Victory
| In their very first season and their first tournament together the boys played superbly to secure their first piece of silverware.
They progressed to the final by finishing second in the qualifying group and subsequently defeated Nunthorpe on penalties in a cagey semi-final. The final was another cagey affair and also went to a penalty shoot out. The defining moment being a superb save by Tom Dawson, this sparked wild celebrations by his team mates and their devoted fans.
The presentation ceremony followed and the TIBS proud captain, Dillon Wilson, stepped forward to lift the trophy on behalf of his magnificent team.
